Servant Evangelism is our way of romancing the city into a relationship with Christ. We touch people with simple acts of kindness and serving, expecting nothing in return. We offer Servant Evangelism outreaches on a regular basis and also offer First Groups and Small Teams opportunities on a continual basis.
Whether you want to serve as a family, a single, or with a First Group, we have something for everyone! Join in serving others, while having a blast serving our community.

TAFT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Taft maintains a community closet for families. We will be partnering in the project by providing clothing, supplies and volunteers. Volunteers are also needed in many other areas. Some volunteers will be needed during the school day, but there will also be opportunities during the evening hours.
If you are interested in being part of this incredible outreach opportunity, please contact the Servant Evangelism Office.
FIRST GROUPS/SMALL TEAMS PROJECTS
These are outreaches that can be done with as few as 5-10 volunteers. Opportunities are endless, just to name a few - handing out hot chocolate at a local sledding area, free popcorn at a sporting event, or cold bottled water at a park. We are always looking for new ways to serve our community and we are open for creative ideas. Contact the Servant Evangelism office today to make plans for your First Group/Small Team to go out and make a difference in our community.
TOUCH CARDS
Touch Cards are always available at Resource Center #1 in the Narthex or the church office.
A few ways to use a touch card -
- When leaving a tip (of at least 20%) for your server.
- When driving thru a fast food restaurant and paying for the order the vehicle behind you has placed.
- Attach a candy bar and give to your hairdresser, bank teller, store clerk, etc. to let them know you appreciate them
Remember, touch cards should ALWAYS have something attached and are not to be used as a tract. If you have questions or would like more tips on using Touch Cards, please call the Servant Evangelism office.
Recent Opportunities...
TAFT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL February 25, the school hosted a Free Clothing Giveaway. Thanks to the GR1st family the quality and quantity that we were able to donate was tremendous. We had 48 volunteers that assisted in collecting, sorting, bagging, setting up and lending a hand at the event. A few comments from the school staff were, “It was a very successful event”, “We felt like we did not have to lift a finger” and “We very much appreciated all that was done”. The staff at Taft are incredible! They give of themselves everyday, not only to the students, but to whole families. Thanks again to all those who gave and volunteered.
VALENTINE OUTREACH
February 14, the SLATE gr team went out to the Rivertown Mall and handed out “SWEET TREAT GIFT CARDS”. Simply saying “We want you to know you are loved!”
TAFT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
January 19, we were invited to volunteer at their annual “RIF” – Reading is Fundamental.
Our volunteers assisted in handing out to each child a book, to keep as their very own. The kids were so excited! The theme for the day was “Reading in the Dark.” The school had an area setup with a fire pit, lights, outside noises and the kids used flashlights to read. The staff at Taft made the event very special for the kids!
