Every Wednesday night hundreds of students gather together at Vertical.  Our Wednesday night service is a time where students can connect to God through current worship and a relevant message.  With an internet lounge, game room, café, 2 basketball courts and an indoor soccer field it is a perfect place for students to hang out with their friends and get connected.  

 All junior high and senior high students come together for a time of worship and then split off for a message that is custom fit for their age group.  Our prayer is that every Wednesday night our students would encounter God and connect with friends in a life changing way.  

Where and When does Vertical meet?

We meet every Wednesday night at the Xchange, the 80,000 square foot home of Vertical Student Ministries.  The Xchange is located west of Grand Rapids First on 44th street. There are 2 Junior high services (6:00-7:00 pm and 7:15-8:15 pm) and 1 Senior high service (7:15-8:15 pm). Certified teachers will free tutoring for students grades 7-12 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

What ages of students are allowed to be in Vertical?

A general rule of is that we are a ministry of junior high (grades 7-8) and senior high (grades 9-12) students. Seventh grade students are allowed to come immediately after completing their sixth grade year in school. However, it is up to you, as parents, to determine whether or not they are ready. Once a student graduates twelfth grade, they may stay in Vertical as a student until the end of that summer. After that, they have the option of going to Fusion, our young adult ministry. They can also stay with Vertical as long as they fulfill the requirements of becoming a leader.

How can I get connected in Vertical?

The best way to get connected anywhere is to be there. It’s very hard for someone to feel connected if they’re not there on a regular basis. Every week we have a Wednesday night service designed to connect students to each other and to God.  We have major events all year long like Fine Arts, summer camps, retreats, game nights, Cedar Point, bonfires and Upward.   Upward is every Monday night at the Xchange, the home of Vertical, from 6-8pm.  Come and hang out with your friends and play indoor soccer, basketball, volley ball, check your Facebook in the internet lounge and eat some tasty treats at the café.  You don’t want to miss this Vertical extra.
